It's fair to say that Edinburgh is a city that's renowned for its looks. With the higgledy-piggledy streets and spires of the Old Town, the Georgian grandeur of the New Town, dramatic skylines, mighty hills and spectacular sea views, there's no shortage of picturesque places for Instagrammers to capture the #prettycity

In this post, we share the most popular aesthetically pleasing Instagrammable spots in the city - ready to get snapping?

Chessel's Court

With its charming and perfectly kept love-heart shaped bush, Chessel's Court makes for the picture perfect backdrop for any Instagram feed. Find this beauty in one of the Royal Mile's many wondrous alleys and closes.

The Potted Garden

No wander round Stockbridge is complete without stopping off to admire the Potted Garden. With flora and fauna galore, this wee Stockbridge cottage and its colourful display of florals make for a gorgeous snap.

Circus Lane

There's a reason that Circus Lane is one of Edinburgh's most famous streets - you only need to walk down it to see why. A cobbled lane of adorable mews houses with the handsome spire of Stockbridge Church peeping its head into view, no Instagram feed is complete without a shot of this famous street.

The Ross Fountain

The newly refurbished Ross Fountain takes pride of place in the west end of Princes Street Gardens. Replicating its original state, the gorgeous blue and gold of the Ross Fountain sits perfectly in front of the mighty Edinburgh Castle sat on high, making the perfect addition to the photo.

Dean Village

One of Edinburgh's most picturesque spots, located just 5 minutes from Princes Street, stepping into Dean village feels like stepping into another world. Centred around the tranquil Water of Leith, Dean Village was previously where mining of water mills took place, the remnants of which can still be found to this day. Full to the brim of charm, Dean Village's unique architecture makes for the perfect picture. Make sure to pop into Well Court at the heart of the village for more iconic architecture.

Calton Hill

It goes without saying that no trip to the capital is complete without a saunter up Calton Hill. Elevated above the city, you'll receive iconic views down Princes Street, over to the firth of forth, out to the Pentland Hills and of neighbouring Arthur's Seat and the Crags. The perfect place to watch the sun go down over the city, just expect your camera roll to fill up fast.

Victoria Street

Edinburgh's very own Diagon alley - colourful shop fronts, curves and cobbles make up the enchanting Victoria Street. Whether you snap this street from the top, bottom or head to Upper Bow to look down on it, it's a true beauty from all angels.

The Writer's Museum

There's no end to the delights of the many closes and alleys you'll find off the Royal Mile, with another popular favourite being Lady Stair's Close, home to the Writer's Museum. A particularly charming faux-medieval masterpiece, the Writer's Museum, originating from 1622, makes for the perfect centrepiece for any photo.

Ramsay Gardens

Situated at the foot of the Castle, Ramsay Gardens comprises flat buildings renowned for their distinctive red and white exteriors. Snap Ramsay Gardens from Princes Street, where they take pride of place in Edinburgh's skyline, or wander up and nosy around the gardens themselves.

The Meadows in Blossom Season

There's nowhere quite like The Meadows during blossom season. Pathways complete with arching blossom trees make for the perfect Spring stroll and, it goes without saying, the perfect pic for the gram.

The Vennel

One of the Old Town's many historic alleyways, The Vennel offers stunning views down towards the Castle, with pretty street lamps and cute cottages in tow.
